The scholarship honors the memory of Frank and Sandy Cardoza and their contributions to the San Diego community. The couple helped found the Balboa Park Youth Symphony in 1961, and after witnessing the plight of homeless people living on their street corners while they were out for walks one day, they began handing out sandwiches every week until they died within two weeks of each other at age 85 (Frank) and 84 (Sandy).
Martha Funderburk Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who are enrolled in the College of Business Administration. The requirements include having a 3.0 GPA, majoring in business administration, and achieving an overall cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher after completion of at least one year at San Diego State University.

Marjorie C. Peabody Foundation Scholarship
The Marjorie C. Peabody Foundation Scholarship is available to students who are pursuing a master’s degree at San Diego State University or USD and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with at least one year of post-baccalaureate study remaining after the award of this scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to students who are studying in the fields of business or economics, with preference given to applicants whose focus includes entrepreneurship and innovation, social purpose impact investing, and corporate social responsibility.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a single parent with custody of at least one child under 18; attend San Diego State University as a full-time student; have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 in high school; and demonstrate financial need (demonstration of financial need is not required if you are applying for renewal).

- You must be an undergraduate student who has completed at least one semester at San Diego State University.
- You must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) and maintain a 3.3 cumulative average while enrolled in your graduate program at San Diego State University.
- You must demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
- The scholarship will be awarded to you for one academic year (generally from fall through spring).

The foundation awards need-based scholarships of up to $40,000 per year to U.S. high school seniors who are first-generation college students and Pell Grant recipients.
